  3. This thread isn't supposed to be about UKIP.

I still want to talk about the London vote.

This is our capital city. It's the centre of power in the UK.
    It's where parliament is.
It's where most of the media are based.
It's where most of the country's wealth is concentrated and generated.

The people that live here voted at odds with the rest of the country, and overwhelmingly against those holding power and influence.

The government that resides in this city are apparently working against the wishes of its population. I find this strange. It seems to me that the government would naturally have a London-centric view.

Why is it that most normal Londoners have such a different world view to most MPs, when we share the same city?

  4. Most of them are from wealthy families, even the socialists, because they can afford to live comfortably and still be in politics as a profession rather than having to waste their time having to actually earn a living.

A lot are also sons or daughters of previous generation politicians. Kinnock junior this time - nepotism is rife, we now have hereditary 'elected' politicians as well as hereditary peers and the royals. God help us (if he exists).

  10. Well if you can't be arsed to vote you have no voice.
I have heard a load of bellyaching but the truth is people trust the conservatives to run a better country and create a better world - that's what the population said in their vote.

London has its own MP's the rest are ours on a jolly...and I suspect they have the same alignment to the place as any tourist.

The 'national' media has its headquarters there, but all media outlets have regional bases that have no care about London.

  12. Anyway.... I still need 2 Y section chassis cuts & a set of og e4rly bay seat runners! :D

  13. What I'm trying to get to the bottom of is this - is it that Londoners see something that the rest of the country can't, or is it the other way round? A serious question, partially motivated by my own desire to leave the city. Seeing the election results has made me inclined to stay put - I want to hear others' views to help me make up my mind.

Although it's probably getting a bit late for that now. :)

Politics always start to get boring , because it is totally unsolvable , everybody thinks differently no one is the same . In the end we all vote what's best ...or think what's best for your family , It always get's firey when discussed and understandably .But me personally i like all bits of all the party's , so never really know who to vote for . Finally to just slot in a bit of humour of something we all believe in , VW's remember were first made under a fascist regime .
