Hi need some help. I have a slight weep on the float bowl nut next to the shut off solenoid. I've had it all off and have replaced this for another fibre washer but again it's weeping fuel. Am I using the right washer or maybe the sealing surface isn't flat ?
Take a look, it could have a scratch or a rough spot (corrosion ?) , or the remains of an old washer caked on. The fibre washer should soak up some fuel and expand to seal with clean metal both sides. Maybe you needed to tighten it just a little more. If it gives problems then find some fuel proof gasket sealant and use a thin smear both sides of a fresh washer, to smooth over e.g. a scratch. Worst case its a porous casting that has finally given up. Then creativity with JB Weld to seal over the inside surface might be needed . .. clean, carb cleaner, sand to key, thinnish layer of epoxy..
