Solar panel group buy

I have recently bought some CIGS 75 watt panels for my Bay.

I spoke to midsummer about a potential group buy and they are willing to offer a decent %
discount for a minimum buy of 10 panels.

Postage wil be next day and £10, but if all who buy are going to Techenders I will deliver them direct then only one postage cost will be needed.

Oh, and additional panels can always be added in the future. It is advised to fit panels from the same source to keep the system balanced so its worth planning ahead

 

@pkrboo ... He's spoken to the people regarding exactly this.. coz it was a concern

 

The panels can be fitted over contours but nothing with too sharp an angle.

I have a westy roof with horizontal ribs, I was going to just go straight over these but have been advised to fill the gaps with something so it's all one flat surface. I will probably fibreglass it.

Or fix something to the roof which provides that support but is in itself flexible. I’m thinking the foam stuff they use for signs for example Very light weight and partially flexible.

You can buy 3mm thick pvc in 8x4 sheets.
I think you'd have to be careful it wasn't exposed directly to UV perhaps. Dunno. Just recall pvc isn't long term stable on sun exposure but should be ok under the panel?

Nope, aluminium will heat the panels up and cause hotspots where my ridges are. These cogs do not need extra backing of any sort, I just need to full my small gaps so it's a smooth run.

Having said that, putting them on the metal roof of a building or narrow boat is OK

not meaning that to be rude to anyone else as i do find it intersting stuff but it will be easier to keep this on topic to the group buy only.

@pkrboo, would you be able to measure the height profile of the panel plus connector wires of a panel please. My garage door is only a few cm above my Westy roof and so in this case, size does matter!

I've had a few really good conversation whist here at Keith's filed and having just seen Neil's set up (@theBusmonkey) it occured to me that the cables coming out of the panels looked quite high.

I would say they are approximately 10mm high and the cables come straight out the back rather than upwards.

Very low profile
