I've been to lots of different places.. where should I visit in your town..any hidden gems I'm missing..? I suspect some of the East Grinstead ,..suggestions may need careful vetting,
Are you going to be a tourist ? Camera round your neck. Staring at stuff Bunching up on the pavement. Acting like you have all the time in the world. If so then get down to Chester
I was at salt mill last week on the way back from york.im sure I could see @Ermintrude on her allotment, from the top floor of The salt mill
I don’t know what you mean? East Grinstead is a lovely market Town on the edge of the Ashdown Forest, some of the many attractions are Saint Hill Manor home of Scientology, The Blue bell railway, The Mormon London Temple, Sackville college, East Grinstead High street which has the largest run of Tudor buildings in Britain, we also have the spot where the last witch was burnt, also on the edge of Town we have Gravetye wood where Steve McFadden alias Phil Mitchell was caught up to no good with his trousers around his ankles
Come to Sunny Kirkby, plenty of micropubs serving decent pints of locally sourced beers and ciders..no Carling here
Kidderminster has a carpet museum, the West Midlands safari park and the Severn valley railway, all worth a visit. The town itself although undergoing a unsettling period of shop closures is well serviced by all the larger stores and very pleasant. It sadly lacks the hustle and bustle of a big city or of bygone day’s, but I quite like it. The area around Kidderminster is some of the most beautiful in the country and there is so much more to explore just a couple of minutes drive out of town.
Sheffield has closed down steel works, a museum of pop music that didn’t last, Meadowhall shopping centre I would avoid like the plague, an inner city canal basin that’s quite pleasant, a new ish indoor market and fancy cinema, good theatres, quite a few music venues tho don’t often attract the bands I like. Outside the city there is lots of lovely countryside. But best of all...... there is me
Go away, we don't like strangers. You'll just mock our quaint country ways. Unless you've got a real purty mouth.
Our town is notable only for its many take aways, charity shops and... Errr...take aways. Oh, it did get a mention on Have I got news for you when the fire station burnt down..
Think you might want to give Bedford a miss. It's like Northampton, but we have a Charles Wells factory not Carlsberg. Birthplace of Ronnie Barker, which probably indicates you need a sense of humour to live here!
You could pop to sunny Warrington and gaze upon the once great site of Mr Smiths nightclub (now a car park after it was burnt down) Hitman and Her anyone??
Come to Birmingham !! It has lost lots of it's industrial heritage, but there are few places being reviitalised. The canal basin and Brindley place are great examples of how modern buildings usig brick can look good - there are 37 miles of canals which have been resurfaced, so great for walking or cycling. The Jewellery Quarter has a couple of musuems and dozens of small workshops and shops. We also have some of the finest examples of modern achitercture horrors - the Selfridges building, the central library (even worse than the 1960s one), New st station and it's new shopping centre and the Bullring.
Apart from the "Cotswold landscape" and local market towns of Stroud and Nails worth, "attractions" within a mile are: 1) Woodchester Mansion. (Haunted, Bat colony, unfinished except for the main hall, and if you're interested in how things used to be built this is tops) Cafe! Shop!! 2) Woodchester park. More walking with lakes n that. 3) "Hetty Pegler's Tump". 3000+ year old burial mound. 4) Cotswold way walk ... (Nearest point is 400 yards away) 5) Gliding club. Good no nonsense cafe. (You beginning to see a pattern yet?) 6) Severn Estuary (Severn bore tidal wave sometimes worth the seeing) 7) Uley, home of a good small independant brewery, and of Prema Arts Centre ... 8) Hetty's Lodge. A fabulous soon-to-be-open holiday let in "Cockadilly" ..... Oh. Do I have to be a sponsor to advertise
Wetwang nothing there except a duck pond and a very good fish and chip shop but think how people will be impessed when you proudly say " i've been to wetwang"
