Sliding door handle.

  1. Hi, sliding door shuts fine, but when closed handle drops down, instead of remaining horizontal. Any possible remedies would be most appreciated

It depends on the design of the door, there are adjustments that can be made, which alter the tension on the mechanism and adjust the angle of the handle.
There are also ways it can wear so that it may never be possible to get it 100% perfect without changing the front lock mechanism.

  3. It's a 76 Devon conversion rhd. It was fine until it went in for respray, I have a plastic collar and felt type washer on exterior, does the felt one go against door then collar or vice versa. Thanks for info mikedjames.

  4. My 77 just has the plastic collar into the door then the handle pushed through.
    No felt washer ??

You could try releasing the screw that holds the handle and the lock mechanism to see if it’s stuck anywhere

Mine just has the handle, chrome ring then plastic seal/ spacer. As @davidoft suggests it could be extra thickness of fresh paint stiffening up the handle. or worse paint overspray inside gumming up the lock .. that will probably free up.
