    Hello

I'm looking for a slate hearth as we are ripping out our art deco one which is falling to bits and we are replacing it with something Victorian.

I haven't got the right grinder to cut it to size though.

    I'm looking for something that is 42 and 1/8 " wide x 12 and 1/4 " deep in new money that's 107cm wide x 31 cm deep.

    Thanks a lot

    Paul

    Good point!

I guess i would like something close to those dimensions though.
I think it would need to be some sort of big grinder with a diamond cutting disk?
Forgot to say I'm based in West London

    Ta.

  4. To get a single bit of slate that size will cost a fortune, maybe make it up in 2 bits.Or slate tiles.

  5. Got mine from a reclamation yard a few years ago. They cut it to size for me too.

  6. Try Asper Marble in Hounslow , they will cut to any size and if it’s going under a wooden stove your need it in two sections , one under and the other as the required hearth

Thank folks. It’s a Victorian fireplace for an open fire using a fire back.

  8. Try eBay and all the usual free ads just bought one with a matching back for fifteen quid

Got a big old slab for £20 on ebay. Got to pick it up now!
Weird as I'd been looking on there for about a year.
    Cheers
