This is mine first time out to Tatton BBQ and spring camp 2013 Now it's had a blow over in primer, done outside on the drive And a homemade Devon copy interior But it's taken us camping 5 times and covered a few thousand miles this year, when the pickup is finished it's coming off the road for a full strip down and respray, rolling resto all the way for me.
@Lardy use it, use it, use it I understand the desire to have a finished van but life is too short to be forever waiting. If it is safe to use now, drive it, camp in it and then resto in between. What about Maldon this Sunday ?
Was going to go to the North Weald one on Sunday as it was closer lol!! If it's peeing down I won't be going anywhere
That's my philosophy, I use mine as my daily, I camp in it and chip away at it when I can. It will never be pretty but it's well used and great fun.
Well, I've suddenly been forced into doing something now. My girlfriend left me (or rather kicked me out )for her ex husband who left her for her best mate 20 years ago so I now have to find somewhere to put the van and fix it up well enough to get it on the road. I am gutted about it all but life will go on. I hope she isn't going to be silly about it all I still have a lot of stuff there.
Sorry to hear this Catsaylor. I hope everything works out. You certainly are taking the right attitude
Use it before you lose it! I haven't got a pic of him as he is now, but Wiggie is currently sporting a yellow primer front panel, and tail gate, while still being blue almost everywhere else. People have asked me if that's how I'm going keep it (accompanied by a "let's humour the crazy lady" look ) and I've laugehd and said no, but I'm not missing out on a summer of camping just because I'm mid-resto! Here's a pic of him being done the other week so you et some kind of idea of the unique "look" involved...
Thanks Lardy Luckily after the worst 2 weeks of my life she has realised that we had a good thing going on and has let me move back in. Its been an emotional time bit I hope what doesnt kill you makes you stronger. There is stuff to work out but its moving in the right direction. Thanks for everyones support it is much appreciated Ive hardly met anyone on here but i feel there is a group of friends out there in VW land. Cheers
You want 'sheddy'.. Look no further! At least you can drive yours! If I could drive mine as is, I certainly wouldnt be sat here typing this right now....
