Had a client in the 1980’s who was quite wealthy, had a RR with a no plate TOM 1. I asked him how much it was worth and he said “ nothing” …but it cost him about £250 a year in fines for an incorrect licence plate ! Max fine then was about £50. Now it would be impounded !
