  1. Didn’t they fix it?

  2. Just my humble 1776. He’s a lusty fellow.

Was tempted to go to 80, but was a bit gusty on the M27 and I would’ve ended up in the hedge. He can do it, tho’

No. First time they had it in, the part didn’t arrive on time.
Next time, the part arrived, but didn’t fix the warning lights and error codes, so they took it back off again.
I think they’re just hoping the truck and me will just limp through until either the end of the season, or when I have to go into hospital (whichever comes sooner) and they can have it for longer to sort it then.
Getting a bit frustrating... Devon is very hilly today :D

  4. Devon’s a bit of a run from Fordingbridge, isn’t it? Especially with trees.

We save up all the south-west area orders to do in one big hit. Or two in this case, as at least 6 trees that should now be living down near Plymouth are still sitting back at the yard. Oops!

  6. Blimey, that is one long hike. Does the hound come with you?

Nah, I lived in Plymouth for years, and loads of my friends are still there… I could drive that road with my eyes shut :)
It’s a bit of a long day for the pup so whilst he’d love the company (as would I) he’ll have much more fun running riot at my folks house!

How many miles has it done ...and is it often ticking over on standstill a lot .
Could be the egr valve choked with carbon ....try revving up engine big time and see if black smoke comes out the exhaust ...sorts it for a while ,but new or cleaned out valve will need to be done ...is it a ford transit ?

  10. Is that the other side of your fence? You didn't say they were upcyclers.

  11. It's an Artsy Crafty Tat Shop in Stockbridge. God knows who buys this stuff. More money than sense.

Yep, a 63 plate Transit drop-side truck. It’s done just short of 82,000 miles: 60k of those with me over the last 4 winters. The nature of the business means it does all its miles in the 5 month winter season, and then does a leisurely few hundred over the summer. The amount of time it takes to unload trees and lug them into peoples gardens means it’s never left running, always ignition off. And we cover a fair amount of miles every day, so it’s not just Stop/Start short runs. The garage thought MAF sensor from the error codes, but a replacement didn’t sort it so I think they’ll try EGR next (apparently my work duties will be altered for a week on Feb 10th so it can go for fixing)
I’ll give it a good rev when I’m out tomorrow and see what happens.

.....If it blows up I’m blaming TLB ;)

Don't worry to much ...diesels are governed so don't go to ridiculous like petrol's ...rev it up out of gear stationary and give it a good blast .
I have to do it with mine to clear it until i find time to change the egr valve ...mind you it's a 2002 model ..so what can you expect .

You can blank a 2002 transit just using a plate and no need to do any programming

Don’t the company pay for you to stop overnight in Plymouth? Maybe you could ‘break down’ whilst you’re there and have to stop over at a mates house :)

You can buy a metal plate that blocks off the EGR valve - yes you can clean up the soot and gunk that builds up on the pipes around the EGR but blanking has become another option. They look like this (very similar for most vehicles, including Citreons). Newer vehicles (after 2005/6) need the ECU programmed after blanking but mines a 2003.[IMG]
