  1. Hi, pretty much as the title really, I know this is a long shot but you never know what you lot have hidden away in your garage, shed or basement...

I've been clay shooting a couple of times and its brilliant, we have now done a couple of training sessions with an instructor & have been certified by them that they are happy for us to go shooting on our owns but we require a license from the old bill.

To get a license we need gun cabinets suitable for shotguns to the current requirements & will need it fully fitted before we apply.

I personally don't intend buying a gun at this stage but I still need to have a gun cabinet / safe fitted in my house to get a license hence why I'm asking

So if you have or know of one for sale, obviously at the right price then please drop me a message on here or in a PM...

    Thanks in advance :D

Do you need one if you're not buying a gun?
    I haven't.......

  4. I guess it depends on your local firearms officer but we can get a license without a gun. Are you sure you need the cabinet ?

  5. I shall have another look at the forms but I'm sure it states you require a cabinet to get a license!

Must admit it's daft if you don't intend on buying a gun but then I suppose once you have a license you can then buy a gun?

Oh I dunno, just wanna go shooting when I want without a member of the club having to baby sit us lol

Surely you don't need a licence if you're not going to buy a gun?
    I use a mates and don't have a licence.

  8. We can shoot at the club but have to have someone with a license with us, ie a member of the grounds staff or one of us have our own license!

  9. If we go with someone who has a license then we can shoot with them!

It's probably different in Bristol, don't they all carry guns there?

Even the old lady two doors down from you is packing!

  10. Up here you cant apply without fitting a cabinet first
Is it just clays you want to shoot robo?

  11. Theres no licence for a shotgun
Its a certificate and as such easier to obtain
The basic rules and regulations are more relaxed than the firearm regulations

You will need to state a use when you apply and if your only doing clays thats fine

Well done robo for seeking tuition first

  13. dont shoot they didnt mean it

  14. You don't need a cabinet by law. The shotgun just needs to be secure. It could be chained up, for example... Gun shops dont keep all there's in a safe.

  15. Theres one allready bolted into the house were moving into
Im keeping my fingers crossed its still there when we move in

Ive not had a cabinet at home since we moved up north
It will be nice to have my dads guns back with me

  17. It all depends on the local officer or is it consultant nowadays

  18. They call them enquirers now. Lol.
Every situation is taken on its merits. Basically you need a good reason to own a gun.

  19. if your not intending to buy a shotgun you don't need a certificate. some clubs insist on a certificate so they know you have been vetted by the firearms officer and some clubs used to have loan guns which could only be used by certificate holders, not many club are allowed to do this anymore.
we use private land for shoots and could have more weapons that people and other times more people than weapons, some i would never think they would get a certificate for a shotgun in the first placeo_O

  20. The real answer to this is. You can get your sgc (shotgun certificate) just for the purpose of buying your own cartridges. But i unless your actually going to buy your own gun, it's not worth getting a cert. you can carry on doing what you've been doing for ever if you like.
