SCAT spring loaded pushrod tubes. Coolair. £70 a set or £9.50 ea. 10/10

Having had a bus in recently that decided that its weep from the Empi spring loaded pushrods was not leaving a big enough mark on its destinations or the workshop floor, l was forced to fit these. We would have liked to have fitted originals but money was the object and there is more to do in the engine bay so perhaps another time when the engine comes out.

Fitment couldn't be any simpler. Double sealed within the internal spring housing, they fitted like a dream. It also allowed me to marvel and give credit to some of the Empi tubes I'd just removed that hadn't leaked sooner due to them being badly fitted together with the retainer rings being placed ad-hoc on them.

It's a face quicker solution to fit these to your 1600 than the originals and even though l was a tad sceptical l honestly can't recommend them enough.

So if you have a 1600 weeping its way around England and the rest of the world, you could do yourself a favour and fit 8 of these little gems.

And cheers to Coolair for getting them to me so quickly. When you have a bus in on Saturday for a simple service and this happens you need the bits quick.

I had a call from the owner who reported all was clean after he drove it home. These were fitted on Tuesday and after a test drive I had no problem. There was not a drop of oil coming from the pushrods. The bus does however have a very minor leak higher up in the engine but not from where it was seriously coming from.

And I can't see why they won't last. With expansion of heat within the engine they will always adjust themselves accordingly.

    Does that answer your question??

  5. Not really mate.
Pushrod seals are notorious for leaking.
And you've written that glowing report on seals that were only installed on Tuesday!

Do you have a new sponsor? ;)

Errrr no. I buy parts from all places. If you read my review in light of costing these were perfect for the job in hand at this time as moment. As with any review I have posted, I reserve the right to amend like l have in the past.

  7. Sorry mate the sponsor bit was tongue in cheek.
But I stand by the rest.
They haven't really stood the "test of time" have they.
