  9. Another vote here for Tom Tom - I used to have one and then sold it when I got the beamer as it had a (bloody awful) integrated sat nav.

Now the Landy doesn't have an integrated one, and I bought a Nuvi instead and really regret it. We go the weirdest way to places and really irritatingly it doesn't allow you to pick a place without a specific street name (whereas the Tom Tom will let you put in say, Chester, and then just take you to the centre so you can pootle about yourself).

I am a big, big advocate of map reading (army education innit) but the satnavs are great in locating stuff nearby (petrol stations, shops, cash points and so on) which when you travel as much as me is really, really handy.

  10. i ve got co-pilot on the iphone its ok think its 25 quid now in the app store

Tom Tom for me, with Hannibal Lecter giving the route instructions.
This is our 3rd one, the other two ended up dying for reasons I'd rather not go into. :-[

  12. I got a tom Tom start2 on offer recently which came with an rds traffic receiver. It's got european maps as well for around £100. It's easy to use and has a small suction mount. Also if you can work a pc well enough you can change the icon for a camper van.

  13. Oh and if you are planning to do any Europe travel get the Europe maps one. I drive all over Europe and it's not gone wrong yet!

  14. I've got an old TomTom Go 710, with European maps, we use it all the time in the UK and Europe and find it pretty much faultless.
One word of advice, it's worth paying the money for the map updates.

  15. chees guys! looks like we will be buying a tomtom. Cheap n cheerful hopefully though have read bad reviews about the refurbished ones.

  17. Mine was a refurbished model from Total PDA, and I have had it for about 4 years now and still going strong.
