  3. keep ploughing on mate, its suprising how quickly they start to come together after a while... ;)

  4. Ok so after a few more hours cleaning the chasis we have yet unleased more holes!!

Whilst cutting the bellie pans off, I thought I was hitting alot of metal around the outrigger, So I started cutting and peeling to find a nice peice of metal hiding the rotten outrigger underneath, why would I have thought there was a good bit in there.

On the good side, the majority of the floor is in damn good condition and the centre 3 tophats are also good.

A few more pic's of the underside and the bodging that has gone on.

a nice bit of filler hid this one.

innercill which from looking at the vans we have here is ment to join the outer cill.

The chasis after cleaning up, i cut away the outrigger, it wasn't doing anything and made it easier to clean the chasis.
I've been advised not to cut stuff away until your ready to replace it other wise you get overwhelmed with it all.

    Another nice hidden jem.
After realising that you can't get the grinder into most places on the underside, I have opted to buy a small sandblasting gun, hopefully be here tomorrow so I can get straight back on it.
    Thats all for now. ;D

  10. So After a year, We have an update!!!!

So Rusty was taken to a friend who had a sand blaster, We dropped it of arouns September last year, And well it sat there, With the promise of it getting blasted underneath.
Well near to a year later and not getting any where we decided to sack of the blasting and just get it to the restorers, VW aircooled works to get started.

So Last month we dropped it off, and eventually when I went last night we rolled her in, and rolled her over into the corner of the workshop to start the chasis work. YAY.

Now he's saying he want's it no longer than 6 months which is good news.

    Scott.

  11. looking forward to the pics :)

All off the old crap removed just awaiting an order of tophats and outriggers to come so we can start welding new metal.

So glad to see progress on it now, after a year of it just sat there whilst I sorted everything else out. Will hopefully get to see it on the road for mid to late summer. ;D

  16. So here's an update on the welding done and where we're at. We've replaced had 3 of the top hats replaced as well as all 6 outriggers and 4 jacking points, both cross members have been replaced, all appears to have gone back in well. so now we're looking alot better underneath.

Originally we thought we were going to have to replace the whole of the chasis sections under the cargo floor area but after a good clean up we have managed to get away with just replacing one of the front sections and a few patches, we've also started plating some of the bits that you can't replace easily.

So now the underside is looking something like with just a few more bits to do we've now started on the driver side and floor whilst we wait for some panels.

    A few pic's of where we're at.

So thats about where we're at now, but alot of progress has been made and deffo feels good to get it moving now. although still a long way to go.

  19. Blimey  your right - Noah is much more solid than this ;) well done you for taking this one on - hope the most recent progress continues! :D
