Roof Rack dimensions???

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Phil, Sam N Gracie, Jan 29, 2012.

  1. I want to make a two bow roof rack. Can anyone tell me the dimensions, point to point, of the gutters? or does anyone have a two bow rack off the vehicle that they would like to measure for me?? if you have any that you would like to get rid of, let me know too.

a long shot, but just to see what comes up.

  2. if you take a tape measure, and go from one gutter to the other, that will give you the distance between the 2 gutters?

I'd go out and measure my van for you but its cold and it sounds like you need the exercise

  8. Just braved the wind and rain for yer to measure mine. ;)

Its 67" end to end measured from inside the gutters. Each end of the rack where it goes into the gutters has a flat 'blade' welded onto the ends of the tubes, which is about 1.5", so about 3" in total for the both sides, making the 'bow' about 64" in length. As its a 3 bow each of the 'bows' is the same size

You should be able to see from this, if you zoom in you should see how it fits on, if you follow the link there are loads more pictures which should help show you how the brackets fit to hold it to the gutters. I think its a JK one so you might get a more detailed pic from there
    :)

67" is 1700mm. Are you sure the van is that wide Joker?

  11. that's not the width of the van, that's the length of the rack bows gutter to gutter, following the bow
