I have a 79 riviera and have been searching in the normal places for the M code plate, with no luck. Then I stumbled across this http://rivieraregistry.com/history.php It's the part that says ASI removed all badges and ID. Does this mean the M code plate? Any help would be much appreciated as would love to know my buses history.
Thats the sort of stuff i want to find out. I have lots of history from when it was in the US. Wanted to know birthday and such stuff. Sorry should have said. :-[
send off to vw in germany for the birth certificate off your chassis number mate that's what i did, costs aboout 50 euros though! have a look on my thread last page http://thelatebay.com/index.php?topic=237.msg33067#new
some of the m codes that are on the sheet are different to the m codes on my van.....i have no idea for example how or where the fog lights are.......my m plate is behind the dash (lhd) on the heater duct with them i did the m code decode on my sig if you click on that, have you looked on the duct for yours?
Yep. Looked all round heating ducts on driver and passenger side and behind both front seats. Is there anywhere else it could be or would ASI really taken off?
the only places i know of are the ducts or behind the seat on the bulkhead, they are rivited on from new so i guess you would have 2 holes showing if they were removed? the problem with the birth certificate is that it doesn't list all the info needed to do a full m-code decode......i suppose vw would know from the vin number and "if" you got a good english speaker they "may" give you more info than my birth cert shows, but i don't really know. good luck though it must be annoying not knowing things if they interest you.
Thanks for help mate. k+. I'll try VW in Germany and also let Birdy have a good look around next time i see him!
Good evening. i can't believe they removed it. It's not really accessible but what condition is it like on top of the fresh air ducts left of the fuse box?? Is there evidence of rivets? When l am next up I'll take a look.
