This one is fully coachbuilt from new. The chassis was supplied by Beeches of Stoke and I have spoken to the main man there regarding the company he supplied it to ( we still use Beeches for our trucks ) he says that was the first year they supplied VW light commercials and is looking into the conversion company details for me. I spoke to a chap from Cheadle who worked for Syd Wyatt conversions and he reckons it was an offshoot of Syd Wytts of Cheadle and they only made top spec conversions to order on LT chassis! The search for info goes on!

Yes it works - no part number as such just a few odd numbers. I think it is off a 72.

Man it was absolutely superb. My Mrs just asked - When are we going again?

Honestly, it just made life so much easier, Saturday night she cooked a Chinese meal for four and we sat in comfort eating and drinking. I couldn't work out how to operate the Truma instant hot water until today ( it's not instant ) 2 gallon tank that gets heated by gas and takes 16 minutes  sorted now though

The bed was very comfortable, Will had the over cab bed and loved it, I got up Sunday and it was easy making a cuppa and cereal breakfast that I ate at the forward table without disturbing Lou or Will, Then I went back to bed until everyone else woke. Brill.

We went away to the Forest of Dean in the LT this weekend, and I thought I would let you know how it went.

She was loaded on Thursday for a quick get away friday after Will finished school. We had prebooked a hook up at Rushmere farm camping Coleford, and I had marked the fuel gauge before putting in 22 litres of fuel. We hit the motorway and gunned her up to a steady 60 mph and reached the campsite after meandering for 10 miles up hill and down dale through the forest ( nowhere is easy to get to in the forest of Dean) we got there at about 6.15 pm, we decided not to unwind the awning as there was a bit of wind and we really couldn't see ourselves sitting outside much in the October chill. So we popped the kettle on and set about making ourselves comfortable, and snacking from the secret cupboard. By 10.30 we had walked the dog, snacked on tiger bread with Lurpak, Lidl chocolate, and biscuits ( Not much boozing for us tonight ) Anyhow, the beauty of the Lt is it's simplicity, Will slept above the cab in the Luton and me and Lou slept in the rear double, it took 5 minutes to make into a comfortable and luxurious bed. The heating is simply a carver thermostatically controlled heater that compliments the very good insulation and double glazing, we were snug as bugs ( Will was more snug in the Luton though)

Rushmere farm is very welcoming and neat. The pitches are all clearly marked and the toilet block is very good. It is handy for Coleford, the pub, Symonds Yat, Clearwell caves and Puzzlewood, There are restaurants in Coleford and it is within walking distance.

It does back on to a main road, and although Saturday was quiet, Friday was quite traffic heavy until gone 11pm.

    The pitch...

Saturday was a bit disappointing as baybirmingham phoned to say his dog had contacted kennel cough and was highly contagious, so he would have to give the weekend a miss. But eh oh, more breakfast for me ( every cloud and all that ).

After breakfast and a shower, we set off for Clearwell caves and the secret forest. which you get a free ticket for after paying entry at clearwell caves.

The caves are also an old mine...

The wood is also an overgrown open mine..

    and ugly kids..

We had lunch in the van at Cannop ponds car park smack bang in the heart of the forest..

We then headed for Coleford and a wander around town. It took ten minutes. But we did grab a few bargains in the charity shops.

After all our exertions shopping and visiting we finally got back to the campsite just before dark, Tea was me and Will's fave - Tomatoe soup and soldiers.. yay.. followed by chocolate from the secret cupboard ( and cider for Dad )

Bed by 11 and what a superbly comfortable nights sleep it is in the LT. I almost forgot how much I love the full size westy bed in my bay. but the warmth is something I can get used to.

After brekkie today we headed off to Symonds yat, but the mist hung around spoiling the view, which is really why most people go to the Yat, eh oh , it was a good weekend and a nice walk through the forest in the mist this morning.

We got home at about 3 today having covered 246 miles, we had put in another 15 litre at Ross on wye earlier, so, in total 37 litres and the needle is now just above where I marked it on friday. so we can guesstimate about 30 to the gallon even at motorway speeds. yay. Good comfort, nice drive and good economy. as for power up hills etc, she easily cruised at 60 on the motorway, accelerated well from a standstill and had plenty of torque in the turbo 2.4 tdi engine. We are Chuffed with the first proper trial.

    Edit.. 246 km's ( not miles :( ) 33 litres used... 21 mpg.

    More like I thought.
