    As per title really.

Normally carry my trolley jack in the van but took it out a couple of months ago as it was in the way.

  2. Just the standard Brazilian jack? Make sure it fits your jacking points if you've had them replaced. Trolley jack is a bit absurd ;)

Blimey. £72 for a Brazilian from Heritage Parts.

  4. They only charge @Barry Haynes £35 for a Brazilian. And they do his nails as well

Seriously - have you got the old Bilstein job that came with the van? The Brazzy one is actually quite compact. Or...a can of tyre sealant?

Nothing came with the van :(.

Sealant wouldn't help with this - nail deflated tyre instantly and the ripped the sidewall getting out the way.

Would a bottle jack be suitable?

  6. Mebbe. Don't put it under the jacking points, or you'll crush them.

Always carry a trolley jack and axle stand on the top, easy to get at and not in the way. It is strapped to a hefty chunk of 12x 2 in case of soft ground. Would never trust any other method . DFF8424D-F7F2-40A4-A6A8-7166D42EE1AA.jpeg

I use a Halfords 1.5 tonne scissor jack to lift the bus up to the point I can use a 4 tonne bottle jack I also carry. I use the suspension beams and various hard points in castings to do the lift, never the jacking points, although I do own an original jack .

Theres also various plywood pads in the bus for softer ground.

Having two jacks adds some redundancy..

Both jacks fit in the space under the front passenger seat..

I also leave the roofrack behind as that gets the bus in under a 2.0m height restriction..

My trolley jack stays at home. And I have replaced a punctured tyre using the two other jacks..

I have a bottle jack and various bits of wood.

Unfortunately my 'original' jack broke after traffic made the bus sway sidewards,

And...... Always carry a jack.;) but, sorry about your flat.

Way back in 2014 I watched somebody at Techenders jack a bus up then try to prop it on a Jenga block stack of wood in the middle of the field. It collapsed, nobody was hurt but I didnt take any pictures as my sense of disaster was so locked on to the unfolding scene...

  14. I'd recommend carrying anything by Jack Hargreaves.

It won't help you change a wheel, but you will learn HOW to cook roadkill while you wait for the big yellow taxi.

  15. You mean Bob Fleming?

Sorry, bit of a cough there. Herrragh! Herraaaaaagh! Heragh.

There are a few genuine Bilstein jacks for Beetles and Vans - anyone know if they are different as to the untrained eye, they look the same.

That reminds me, @Suss was telling me about the problem he had with his untrained eye when he worked in japan, least I think that’s what he said we were both extremely drunk at the time :D

  20. I bought a screw bottle jack As recommend by someone on here - comes as standard with the VW LT35s .
More than adequate and enough height to lift on the beam or gearbox mount , I'll see if I can find a linky on eBay...
