ok so thinking going away in the van for a few days beginning September, Hayling Island and a couple of days in the New Forest any recommended sites only me the wife and 2 little doggies, Thanks ps I don't really need a leccy hook-up

I prefer roundhill just down the road it’s huge so you have no problem finding a nice quiet spot also it’s not next to a main road and you can walk in all directions. Doesn’t have showers through https://www.campinginthenewforest.com/campsites/roundhill/
Fishery creek on Hayling is on the creek , it’s tidal but you can camp next to the sea , parcel board etc , nice site , quiet clean , sea front is 10 mins walk and if you break down I’m not far , I’ve been to ashurst but don’t remember it
Hollands Wood for the New Forest though it doesn't do electric hook up if thats important for a couple of nights. We stayed at Fishery Creek on Hayling Island which was ok though it was 8 or 9 years ago so I'm not sure what its like now.
It depends what you want from a site. Most of the 'Camping in the New Forest' sites are fairly basic (which I like, but doesn't suit everyone) - most have toilets, some have showers, a few have hook up. I like Roundhill because it's very open and you really feel like you're just camping in the forest - the only boundary is small stumpy wooden posts, so you'll have ponies and cows potentially wandering around. Ashurst is nice too (pub within spitting distance) but there's more trees for cover. I can't remember if there's showers. Hollands Wood is, as the name implies, very wooded! (I was missing the sunshine by the end of my long weekend there) Ocknell was too full of white plastic motorhomes. Longbeech has no facilities (you sign in and get the gate code at Ocknell), it's quite small, and there's plenty of little places to pitch up in amongst the gorse bushes which gives privacy and a feeling that you're wild camping. The Sir Walter Tyrell pub is a decent dog walk across the forest. (Despite being very close to home, I'm slowly working my way around most of them!)
Hi Sarah tbh we dont really want much we just like to really chill have a pint or 2 and walk the dogs looking thru the list re New Forest id prob say Roundhill fits our agenda Ashurst i liked the look of but no doggies , Thanks for your input
So just back from a four day trip to Hayling Island, we stayed @ Fishery Creek Campsite very clean and well looked after unfortunately we didn't travel far as the weather was so gorgeous and the local beach was a 5 min walk away , only gripe I do have is the 2 localish pubs looked like an advert for the local BNP ok I guess if that's what floats ya boat
