I like my old retro Harrison awning found on EBay. Not very high but being thick canvas it is very warm in a wind.

Having seen the Wimas retro awning ad discovered that you can add things to it, I may add bits to it.

  5. Just to throw another name in amongst all the Khyam-fanboys, we have an Outdoor Revolution Movelite awning - it was cheap, it's well made, and being a square (and therefore just two fibreglass poles looped and crossing in the middle) easy to put up too. I hear what everyone's saying about the Khyam's, but not everyone's got Khyam money. When we bought from Jacksons of Arley a couple of years ago, they were £185, I think they £199 now.

  6. We've got a royal traveller tunnel awning.
Quite cheap at £150 ish, easy enough to put up, goes back in the bag ok, and has served well for 2 hols.
Have ripped it where the sliding door opened on to it and ripped the bag but that was more my fault i think.

  7. I did recommend our Khyam motordome classic but it died in the big storm that hit East Anglia 2 days ago. We secured it very tightly to the gutter rail with 3 figure of 8s and 3 clamps and it tore in the wind in a couple of places. We used to have Outwell tents and they were excellent quality in wind and rain they never let us down so I expect next year we will have one of them. As for the Khyam it is RIP ( rest in pieces in a skip on the campsite we were at)

  9. We have a Kyham Driveaway XC, great awning, as long as you position the van right it will not tear, has 2 bedrooms and living area with built in ground sheet, also a footprint for awning to sit on, always packs in the bag ok, takes about 25 mins to set up, we swear by it :)

  10. We have the Daytona Easycamp driveaway - rrp around £130 but managed to get a brand new one from fleabay for £60. Only 2 cross poles, and then the long metal pole in the driveaway part. After struggling in high winds the first time, we ordered 4 pole clamps from JK and tested them in similar winds this weekend and they were fantastic.

Nice size, really handy as either an extra bedroom or living room function. Easily put up with 2 people - we got our erection (childish snigger) down to 10 mins on Saturday.
