Rear Wheel Arch Closing Panel Position ?

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by motorcycleemptyness, May 15, 2020.

  1. Any idea how far up the chassis rail the rear wheel arch closing panel sits ?
Does the top of it sit flush with the top face of the chassis rail ?
Also , does the top part of the panel sit perfectly vertical , 20200515_133412.jpg with the lower part leaning towards the rear at around 15-20 degrees ?

    Cheers

The flat "vertical" strip has to be at the level of the battery tray. Is that what you mean?

  3. Yes , so the top of the flat vertical part sits flush with the battery tray ? and also the vertical part fits vertically ?

Yes. If you search around for pictures inside the engine bay you might see where the flat bit starts under the rounded tub. Hard to explain!

So, thinking about it, that part of the battery tray is turned downwards so you want the flat part of the closing panel to start approx. level with the battery tray surface and continue downwards so you can fix the tray to it. Sods law that will leave a gap about 5-10mm

  7. Yes , there is a gap of around 5mm along the top edge. I'll fit it 5mm higher , it won't effect anything else like the battery tray as the vertical part is a good 50mm tall.

Which IIRC is about 2x as tall as the original.
