Rear tailgate stuck

Was fitting a new lock to the rear tailgate and shut it but now is jammed closed. Any way to open it from the inside without any damage?

Easy , take off the door card and there`s a latch release . If i remember it has two holes drilled along the length , flick this and it`ll pop open ...

Then tie a bit of string to it and thread it through a hole in the tailgate card. Instant emergency exit.

Ive fixed a bolt to the latch then added a small knob (no pun intended ) to the latch that way when in bed i can open up the hatch.
Also fitted a strap so i can leave hatch few inches open during the night. Works great and handy if needed another exit!

You probably have the bit on the back of the lock that operates the latch 90degrees out of sink
