rack and pinion kit

  1. Red9 is now owned by someone in the Netherlands i believe. I wonder if the new owner adopts the liability risk for historical sales? That said, i've not heard of any red9 wishbones failing - i think if that was happening we would all know about it.

  3. I was attached to an air despatch unit at RAF Thorney Island we did ULLA drops at Abington believe me you need that safety factor, when the chute is deployed these things leave the aircraft at an astonishing speed the last thing you need is a break in a chord or a hang up.

That safety factor is vital, in certain applications its an eye opener how big a margin get applied.

It would be interesting to see if that stood up in court

  7. They had at least 3 catastrophic failures of the EZ rider coil over kit …..

I’m not a lawyer but I don’t see why it wouldn’t. If you buy something from Red9 you have to agree to their T&Cs, if you don’t, they won’t sell to you. You accept that what you have bought is not fit for any particular purpose and to me that could include holding the front of a bus up.

Not convinced. Consumer law is pretty strong, and unenforceable ts & cs get overturned quite regularly.

  10. I'd agree. If you had a horrifying crash, I'd doubt whether the T&Cs would stand up in court.

Give your Bus the ultimate handling upgrade. Twin wishbone coilover suspension with rack and pinion steering….and it all bolts on.

Our kit bolts on to your chassis, replacing the beam. Comes complete to the spindles and includes rack and pinion steering. Adjustable for height, stiffness, camber, caster and toe!

Using modified late Bay spindles means that disc brakes are available to all, plus upgrades can still be used, from mild to wild as well as the wide variety of wheel and tyre combinations that are in use today! ...more info

Need it fitting, get it fitted right! We can do this!

This is the main page of their website it’s pretty obvious it’s sold for one purpose they give you instructions on how to fit and will even fit it for you.

No amount of terms and conditions can white wash that.

  12. That's the good front end. It's the coilover job that's a bit iffy.

As I said I’m not a lawyer but I would have thought that in a court of law T&Cs had precedence over marketing hype.

They do. They don’t take precedence over consumer law though.

  15. Why does anybody buy this stuff
Just buy a quality replacement beam use your existing parts replace the necessary joints and bits and brakes wheel bearings shocks etc
    And
    All good :)

Because double wishbones are far superior to trailing arms and a rack and pinon is far superior to a steering box. If they’d finished the design and had it TUV approved and had some in stock to sell I’d buy one.

  17. Oh I dunno westy
I just used and had anything that was knackered replaced,
It was more than sufficient for my 50 hp beach hut, that said I suppose the more performance you want with bigger faster engines etc
It may be necessary for some to control the extra 25 mph in comfort on a motorway :)

I worry also here in UK that it will at some point disqualify it from being historic and I like my free vehicle licence.

  19. Indeed !
every other van you see has been lowered
I don’t knock it , I had my xo lowered using a creative beam and adjustable spring plates on rear, I know for a fact it was stronger than the rusty beam it replaced,
But I still have this feeling why have we have been given MOT and tax free status
In a world that hates anything that resembles a coal powered steam engine ..I wonder

  20. This was a major motivator to return my bus to stock suspension.
