Question - fitting rear corners

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Nicolasticity, May 27, 2020.

  1. What is the best way of fixing the top flange of a new rear corner?

    Its not possible to get a mig gun in or a spot welder. So is it;
    • cut the roof and weld from above
    • use silcoset or tiger seal and bond it
    • do nothing
    • something else

    cheers

  2. I’ve not done this. But this is how I would expect to do it. I’d remove the panel, clean up.
    I’d then drill through the gutter downwards to be able to puddle weld to the flange. You’ll need some big ass clamps to pull it shut I suspect

    Or use self- tapping screws in the holes .. somebody (Scott at SGS) suggested metal roofing screws as ideal to pull stuff together. Take them out as you weld or cover them with duct tape then Tiger Seal for an authentic job..

    Cleco clips are perfect for pulling stuff together!

    Are you wanting to fit a full height rear corner all the way to the roof ?

    I have a factory manual that details the procedure, but do you NEED to fit the whole corner ?
