Again it’s been a long time since any updates have been made. I have been plodding along slowly but a garage conversion at home has swallowed most of my time. And we also had a lovely little baby girl join the family too so spare time for poor old uggy has been very limited Back to black for this Managed to get all the rust repair work to below the window line completed and a couple of coats of Vw white on. Should help keep the rust away for a while Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Did some time team work on the right hand side rear arch So more plates and a lot more filler removed. Replaced a large section of inner and centre sill.
Left rear arch (replaced by previous owners) This arch didn’t look right and you could feel a good inch gap between the inner and outer arch Very little weld here and lots of adhesive More sill work required and an a new outrigger Repair to the inner arch Replaced section of the centre sill panel
Yep. Took that advice. Every part I work on now gets stripped back to see exactly what lays beneath. Very hard to weld to rust lol
Been pottering away when I get a spare half hour here and there Decided to take on some mechanical parts and have a break from welding Rear wheel bearings repacked and new oil seals fitted
Cv boots repacked and new booties fitted R&R bed Need to beef up the mounts and brackets, just fitted to make sure it didn’t clash with the seatbelt mounts that I’m getting ready to fit Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Engine back out to get access for seatbelt mounts Forgot to disconnect the torque converter before I tried to remove it. Hoping I realised quick enough before I bent anything There is a small amount of surface rust in here, what’s is the best way to address this. Thinking of a handful of bits bolts and screws strapped to a cement mixer??
That’s how I recently did mine, but used some gravel as that was to hand, my tank wasn’t too bad, but I’d opened and welded a makeshift swirl pot for my upcoming Subaru swap, so wanted to seal the tank/welds on the inside.... just noticed your tank is more upmarket with a baffle fitted! After using ‘Slosh’ sealer. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
We now have some seatbelt mounts. Fitted all the mounts that should be there, just in case the interior plans change Scraped off all the under-seal Treated the inner arches to a couple of coats of raptor black Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Refitted the rear suspension New brake fitting kit and brake hose I have new rear shocks in the shed somewhere, Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Rear arch scrape out. Prep for raptor Had all the suspension arms bar sets off. Fresh grease for the bearing and oil seals. Brake backing plate needed a bit of love
