Problems with Empi 5s on Rear Drums

  3. I thought you were talking about the rear not front ? if a spacer improves it i can`t think what else it can be
     
  4. Is this sorted. Have I missed the bit when you put it back how it was before the problem occured i.e. put standard wheels back on? Did you at any point appear in Harry Potter? Cmon mate what going on?

  6. Today is the first chance I've had to get on it. I think it's down to the star adjusters as pointed out earlier.
    Will let you know soon as in done.

  7. Ok, freed off the star adjuster a bit & the wheel turned (but with grunt) took the wheel nuts off (wheel still on the drum) & it spins fine.
    Soon as I even tighten the nuts up slightly it gets harder to turn the wheel.

    Even with just one wheel nut on the wheel, finger tight, it becomes harder to turn the wheel.

  10. So just to clarify as i`m well confused..you have red 9 coilovers on the rear ? which i`m pretty sure you don`t . i guess you have either droped on splines or horse shoe plates or both ?
    Are all wheels tight to turn ? front ,back ,left ,right ....
     
  11. you could just try it with out the drum on which would at least tell you its the brakes or not ?
     
  12. No. Red9's are on the front, which is fine.
    I've found that it's the rear, near side.
    I've got the van jacked up, took the wheel nuts off & it turns fine. Start to tighten them up (not even finger tight) & it's nearly impossible.
     
  13. Put the hub bolts back in and tighten them up!

  15. Drum off, top shoe is on slightly.
    Gonna adjust it now
     
  16. You cant adjust with the drum off as they need to be centralised. For that you need the drum on and pull the handbrake on and off a few times then adjust.

    When you adjust get someone to pump the brake pedal every few clicks of the star wheels to keep them centred.

    The cylinder is shot. Just been to GSF.
    That will be tomorrow's task.

    Wanna say cheers for all the advice & input. Bit of pi55 taking too but it's all in good humour.

  19. So...just to clarify....with the drum removed, the hub spins freely....with the drum replaced the hub doesn't spin freely...cylinder piston (s) seized in the 'out' position.....
    OR with the drum replaced, the hub spins freely, BUT with the wheel replaced (with the nuts/bolts) the hub doesn't spin freely....

    which one is it?....if it's the latter, you still ain't solved your problem

    Tyres hitting coilovers? Or is that too obvious...
