  1. Nuts, I missed a party due to going to bed early. I would have brought a box of records and a comedy bottle of leibfraumilch. Let me know next time ya lousy bums.

Reading this thread I was having to concentrate to visualise the plumbing and flooring probs , however, once the nibbles arrived the whole rest of the thread was like a floaty dream sequence in my head. :) I found myself wanting to be there, wondering what my outfit would be and if there would be any crab mouse or cherry B's on the buffet table :)

  4. unfortunately the evening took a turn for the worse, as they often do, and i ended up sinking all the cherry b's and face down sobbing into the crab mousse. have had to spend the morning picking pineapple chunks and olives from the shag pile and my hair

Now that sounds like I even more wish I'd been there! :)
(Maybe you will find an errant, half empty Emva Cream bottle stashed behind the Parker Knoll corner suite and some Arctic Roll you forgot to put out (due to aforementioned distress!) :)

  8. The floor. Where the boards change is where the old bulkhead used to be

    The raised bit

  9. the ceiling below is above the stairs and has been sloped to accommodate the pipework junction. i want this slope taking out and overboarding to near original height as the new pipework will go on top of the boards.

  10. So, the joists do go into the walls. Phew. But seem to have been underpinned with some others which don't. Perhaps this was why the curling was lowered? [IMG]

  11. You're all out enjoying the sunshine, aren't you? Laughing and joking with loved ones without a care in the world. Harrumph.

  14. the cross joists (running 90 degrees from others) seem to be underpinned with random lengths of wood which don't go into the wall. the one which is too high is the one on the outside wall. it does go into the wall and presumable fixed into the joists at 90 degrees. it has been underpinned.... would it be possible to shave a little off the top to allow the boards to sit level? or is that a big no no?

  15. The first 'joist' in the pic doesn't go into the wall. This is where a bath leg will be. Problem? [IMG]

  16. I guess so, theres a lot of weight in a full bath, can the brickwork be notched out to take a joist that can be stitched in to the existing and the high one, can that not be taken out and replaced, shoot I am rambling I am on the vino and records but I guess Silver can help out. Talk to you when I am slightly less refreshed.:)

  17. Well, Erm....it's virtually impossible to suggest what to do there....there's quite a lot going on...a builder, or first fix joiner (not a plumber) will definitely be able to sort it, but it looks like one of those jobs where they'll improvise.....or suggest new joists and hangers, or wall plate....it all depends on the quality of the brickwork, as to what the solution would be....If you're ripping the ceiling below out, it would be a good time to fit proper hangers/wall plate......Sorry I can't be of more use....I'm still feeling a bit rough after last night...Angel Delight and Soda Stream Cola floats don't mix....

  18. thank you, only the stairwell ceiling will be ripped out, which is just under the dodgy area. had a builder in today but he thought that the centrw joist has dropped... it hasn't as the rake is only on the one side of the middle one. wish i'd fot some Harvey maria floor tiles and not thought about the joists :(

i'm had a babycham for hair of the dog, there's a pack of four on the hostess trolley if you want? *nibbles at glace cherry*

  19. waaass appened
