    Nice neat work dude.

You can see just how good you are now by the hole filling in the side panel - the first one was, well..., but the second was a pro-job. 8)

  6. Thanks guys,

Yep Zed, Its all about practice mate, pleased with the progress

Not really had a chance to do anymore since. working 7 days a week at moment but will hit it hard over winter.
I have promised it as a wedding car to my best mates bride in summer '12 ( no pressure then!!) ::)

  10. Ok... Managed to escape to the workshop and get a bit more done over the weekend.

So first was to start cutting out the second knackered rear corner which was lurking under a ton of filler

It was a this point I noticed the battery tray was missing the return that joins to the inside of rear corner panel. It appears to have been cut off by the previous bodger.

..... and the tray was held up by this improvised bracket...... mmmm nice.

Old knackered battery tray was chopped out

also cut a bit of rot out from the rear upright.

    then new metal welded in

New battery tray has been ordered and after a good clean up in there will be welded in asap.

outer sill panel clamped into position and then welded in

thats about it for now until next time :)

  11. Good progress being made there dude

  12. Cheers Para..

I'm hoping to get the back end finished over the xmas break :)

then the filler work and prep for paint starts...

Will update this thread with piccies of course :)

  17. Ok.... I managed to get cracking this week as I had a few days off work over the xmas break..

First off i chopped out a little bit of rot here.
then fabbed up some new metal and grafted it in.

The next step was to weld in the new battery tray after cleaning up the surrounding area. Have to say I was well impressed with this genuine panel from schofields, real thick guage solid steel.

and red leaded the bare metal
    [IMG]

next step was the outer rear arch, which involved a lot of trial fitting with clamps and nipping bits off here and there until I was satisfied with th alignment. I then marked it up over the old panel and cut out the excess old metal
    [IMG]
I found a roll of foam seal tape from my old bike racing days( used to seal airbox under tank), so this was a perfect replacement for the original stuff
    [IMG]

Then after a bit more jigging around finally located arch in place with magnets and clamps. then tacked until happy and finally welded in and excess weld ground flat

This was a whole days work and was pretty chuffed with the progress :)

The following day started with a bit of a tidy and sweep up then started on the second rear lower corner. I got this panel from cool air and is a pretty decent one but lack a 90 degree return for the joint to the rear arch panel. this was purchased from schofields for less than a tenner and makes a much better job of it.

thats all my total stash of body panels now used and in situ.... there is a bit of work to do on the front panel where the spare wheel carrier has caused some damage and a bit of rust around the windscreen apperture but feel the welding is near complete :)

great progress there Paul, looking very neat and tidy I must say! However, I see a rare animal in this piccie:

It looks like an old Firenza to me, but judging by the alloys, is it a droopsnoot (they where not bronze colour) or a HP..looks nice and tidy, any more of this?
