  1. You've done a fab job for sure.
I like to have a go but I'm a bit impatient and often make a right mess of what I've started which grows the more I try and correct it. Filling and painting I can sort of get on with and do a reasonable job but I'm a bit apprehensive of cutting metal and welding. I'd have to do a comprehensive course I reckon.

  2. nice one :) I don't want to take too much out of it coz the shape is near perfect......just need it flat enough for priming so a light scuff to take it down each grade?

  3. Yeah I'd go up near 220 just to get it smooth and flat.. But honestly your call is good, so go steady and you'll see what's working.. You defo need to hit three figures to take the grooves out

  4. the first cut I made had me hovering with the grinder running for a long while before I took the plunge but once the blade goes in you're commited and everything after that is just confidence, measuring and having a good idea of what the end result needs to look like. I've made a few mistakes, but kept my head and worked out how to recover it lol I figure if I can do this stuff, anybody with a modicum of nous and a bit of bravery probably can too :)

  5. cheers for the pointers fella....good info :)

  6. So pleased just to give you a bit of help.. Honestly your thread is an inspiration.. Loved reading it from the first post when it was all hands down for popping a punch at the HA :) :-D

  7. i'd like to, but good quality kit is pretty expensive and i'm persistently broke, so it'll get a satin hand paintjob until i can afford some halfway decent spray gear to give it a go.....I've done panels with decent results but never a whole vehicle lol

  8. yeah its been an interesting journey so far, and mostly very enjoyable ....particularly the custom stuff :) I've discovered a few skills I'm surprisingly good at, and some that could use a bit of work lol but on the whole I'd like to pursue it further and maybe do some paid stuff for people once I get my work up to that kind of level :)

  9. It's a tough game and hard...but having the love helps! The results are also great to see :) you're building yourself a great advert and a core fan base.. Go for it fella, if this thread has taught you anything you should have a load of self belief :) you have defo a skill people would pay for :)

  10. Impressive, wish I could do bodywork....Paid stuff I might be interested in the future being local and incapable of doing much more than waxing my bus....

  11. Well there's nobody really in this area that does panel work specifically on old VW's, 65 Deluxe is local, but pricey and heavily booked up. I guess there's an opening for something. I even have premises already, if I emptied them of my other project and all its associated stuff lol
    I'll mull it over... :)

  12. always welcome to take a look at mine/drink tea/ shoot the breeze and talk about what you need if you're in the area. Cant really take anything on until i wrap mine up though :)

  13. yes cool I'm just about to tuck it up for the winter but reckon it will need a little work in the spring. Jesus that's just made me sad...

  15. Well it does look like life is pointing you in a certain direction.. Massively believer in fate and dealing with what arrives on my doorstep. Even if it doesn't hold you for long I'd say cease the moment and go for it, you seem to have everything you majority need like buildings.. So go for it. You can even substitute the build work with scene stuff..

I do like the approach that type 2 detectives take with the boot camp, clothing and tools... Ultimately they are a dub shop, but the extras helps to build that core customer base.. It's not so much the garages of old where it was a case bring what you have in and we will fix it... It's more come down and join the family and don't worry about the dub we will sort that... Would you like more free coffee?

Simple tactics to get repeat business

    Anyway I digress...

You defo have something there for panel skills... So why not have a pop at filling the gap, it will be hard but with passion, I think you'll be grand fella :)

  16. I've got a cheapo compressor and an upside down gun (somewhere) if you wanted to borrow it and have a pop at spraying it. I'm not too far from you. Think I might have an electric DA as well.
