Spend long enough and it’s possible. It got addictive for me. Have you tried scraping with cutdown flathead screwdrivers on a telescopic dremel thingybob? That’s the only way to get near and round the D Pillar. Some bits only possible to get at from within the engine bay or through the rear lights i’m afraid. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If it was the original paint I could have used red scotchbrite to key it up then paint it. However Paul told me he was going to soda blast all inside before painting using a small detail gun. What he actually did was just soda blast the part straight through the grill and no where else So the paint flaked and peeled all around it showing the original red and a great thick bit of paint left in the middle that had stuck Other places paint had stuck by luck in patches So it was a mess in there and the only way to do a better job is to strip it back as much as I can. A job best done without an engine fitted.
Don't feel alone Para, he told me he would get my carbs rebuilt by Stateside, he also said he would fit a thermostat which he bought of @zedders and I paid for. Amongst other things he didn't do. Wonder why he doesn't come on here anymore. Hey ho, you're painting, my Subaru engine is on the way.
All I’ve done so far is use those scotchbrite wheels on a knock off chinese flexi drive because the genuine dremel flexi drive is a lot thicker on the end. I used a split bit of plastic pipe like you did to give me more reach I’ve also used a aquarium cleaner with scotchbrite fastened to the head to get into places https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Aquarium...-/384080688130?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286
He over promises and under delivers that’s for sure. I’ve just put it all behind me now and moving forward by sorting it all myself. The van will never look perfect but it will look tidy and keep the weather out so it’s not falling apart in front of me.
Yep, that there is my aim too. Nice find with the aquarium brush. I’m suddenly jealous and desiring of a Time Machine. Might be useful for sorting my fresh air vents though. I should’ve specified “Chinese knockoff” ha ha. Every mm on these things counts. I’ve realised simply changing u-trims for a mm or so smaller profile, facilitates me actually doing what I need to. Great stuff!! You really got in there well. Must be pleased. Now we have to just keep our pristine vents clean. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nice work on the vents. Still loving the colour. I had no patience for mine so just black undersealed them
Yeah, and it's special order. Had issues recently with parts coming from overseas due to carriers being overwhelmed with imports. It's a bit of a nightmare
