I’m gearing up to start dealing with some bodywork , pretty certain I’m going to encounter holes under the blisters , I want to buy a sheet of steel plate in readiness - what is the thickness I need ? For the doors mainly ?
    1mm?

Nice one , thank you - I’m lucky to have a steel stockholder nearby that I work with on/off so should be able to pick up some off cuts FOC , just needed the thickness

Thyssen Steel is very good but Arcelor Mittal is the go to place for automotive steels

For me, 20g (0.9mm) is a bit thin for flattish panels and I use 18g (1.1mm). I also like the zintec coated steel as it doesn't go rusty in storage but still welds ok. 20g is easier to work if you are putting a lot of shape into it.

I prefer using 18 gauge, which is roughly 1.2mm, some repair panels are supplied in this.
