Oxide Ollie '72 the plan ......the progress.........

Right the first move as played today. As much as we would like to use the services of some others on here distance is a problem:

So this is the list and what is going to happen-
Feb new engine and brakes (done and that was a mistake) now it's broken .....
September 2014 body work ( nope not started) started May 2015

Paint will be done by hand that is done but am changing my mind ....
Interior I will be doing myself this will start in October...................starting May 2015
I will be making the door cards and covering them myself (done don't like them going to buy some off Millie)
The roof lining I am going to get someone else to do end of 2014 ( changed my mind)
Then in the end the pop top
New seats for the front ( have them they are still not in !)

Things that I need
Inner door handels
Steering Wheel ( not broken) ( not doing that now)
New front seats ( still working out which ones to try and get)
Under dash shelf ( had one did not like it gone now)
lockable petrol cap (done)
New lock for the back tail gate (done)
money

This is OllieDubCamper at the moment - now known as Oxide Ollie 72 , quiet a long way down my list and really quiet chuffed

Updated 8th of Aug ...so I had a long , long list it changed, and actually it has reduced yay ! So am now selling bits and pieces to buy a full set of rubbers for the bus at the end of the month ....rust is being sorted as are the doors, front panel also being done, engine being dropped and taken to bits, we are working on the paint work and painting inside come early winter, he is now staying Oxide , a friend is sorting out a roof rack ....

What is left in my list ....well the pack of seals
Leisure battery and wiring
Pop top lining and new fixings
Replacing the nasty skylights with something nicer ....I have some ideas..
Recover back seats/cover table (picture ordered) put catch on for table
Put in an opening window of some sorts on one of the sides or both
Inner cab pull handles
sort out the trailer
Redye those blooming curtains !

 

What year is your bus? I have a steering wheel for a 75+ van, when I need an earlier one. Has 2 cracks but these can be filled and wheel painted.

Also, im no expert. But if you do need any help on anything that I can actually do... I.e welding etc. I'm only down the road.

So took Ollie out to Stiffkey , broke down once on the way but it was a lose wire so we could sort it ....so at last the real first stages of the resto have started having the corner welded, the battery tray, new engine brakes overhauled, MOT and whatever comes out if that ......hopefully he will be back on the road for Dubs at the Hall ....... will upload pictures as and when they come through .....

Ta must say it is a bit odd with Ollie gone, been waiting a year for this first bit, in fact it's a year this week since we got him....

 

Infact it was a year today !

So he failed his MOT but actually not that badly, gear linkage is bad , but that was an advisory, as was the play on the steering wheel, small hole in the cab floor but again advisory, the main stuff is supports that need replacing , front lights re pointing, something's missing from the rear tail light and some other bits but no at all as bad as I expected (seeming it had no advisories when we bought it which all seemed a bit odd seeming the state of it) .......

 

Its good to busy and see results . more power to your elbow

 

Oh dear .....all the tin wear is hand made ....and not well ....., , he has ordered another monza four tip exhaust and new hoses, and new silencer . Oil is leaking from the cooler too.......anyone got a grand they want to lend me never mind no one ever said it was going to cheap and Ollie will be a better running bus at the end if it....however at this rate I may have to live in him

 

Right the update the back arches are all filler (knew that) and that will have to wait till later in the year , so new monza four tip , ally hoses for heater, fuel pump pedestal, replace tank feed pipes, exhaust fitting kit, oil cooler, air filter cv joint visitors and brake leak ......onwards and up date , but still he only cost 3.5k
