Trim - good idea. Earz - dont know what the figures say but its the fan type and speed that provides the cooling air to the engine. In theory they could imrove inlet air through carbs but I doubt it. You can try to force air into the engine compartment but eventually that will equalise with the pressure of the air entering the compartment and only the fan or carb inlet will control the air.
the shelf stacker should have said....you'll find him over there in the "70's pin-up motorcycle racers" section, just below the "mop-headed actors..."
Speaking of snake-oil.....here's something that does actually work very well: oil cooler heat sink.... 8 out of 10
No rudeness intended: you stated a fact, and I disagreed with you . The "earz" won't do a thing to improve your engine cooling. Getting more air over the heads will, but that would mean increasing the efficiency of the cooling fan, which trying to shove more air into the engine compartment won't do. The fan's pretty efficient anyway, as VW intended them to be. But, if you want to fit them, fine. I notice they're twenty quid (nice one, JK )...for another tenner, you could buy a velocity ring for the fan shroud from Deimos which would have the effect you want.
