Pain anyway. Once round the carpark proved the 5 rib's *****ed as I thought, so it's gearbox change no.4. This time it'll be the original that came with the bus with the 1800 bell housing. It's all done, attached to the engine and ready to put back in. I'm really really sick of doing this job over and over. :(

    Thanks Diddy. :)

I've been oop to Scotland over the last few days, we fitted the new engine Laurrie specified and built for me, and zoomed back down the A1 300+ miles. It's blummin marvellous and just eats the motorway miles. I'm so happy. :) Laurie is Laurie. lol - I asked him to build the most powerful T1 engine he could, but after asking what it would be fitted in he refused and told me what I wanted, which he then built for me round a new case, barrels, pistons, and a C35 cam kit. It has a 76mm wasserboxer crankshaft, a T4 flywheel and 228mm clutch, 90.5 B&P's and standard heads machined for the barrels making it a 1955cc engine built for Torque and effortless cruising. 8)

To save some expense I stripped a perfectly good 1600 engine for the SVDA with pertronix, the coil, twin ICT's and linkage, cylinder heads, push-rods, tinware, alternator and fan, fuel pump, pressure sender and guage etc etc. The van came with an oil filter head that wasn't attached to the engine so that was brought back into service along with an additional £25 oil cooler I mounted under the van in front of the rear torsion tube.

I'm going to keep running it with the 1600 gearbox/T4 bell housing for a while. The gearing is great - even at 60 if I put my foot down it flies. With the 1600 nothing much happened unless it was down a steep hill.

    Happy? Oh yes!

    Brakes next.
