I know here in Italy the new 'very right wing' government plans to be hard on immigration. They say we've had enough..

Before crossing France abd the channel, they arrive in Italy and many stay here.
They've already stopped a boat load from leaving the ship, pushed them on to France, now France and Italy are arguing.

 

We have borders and border control. Does that make countries racist?
Like most services the detention centres need more money/staff to process the people coming over here.
Do we take anyone in who's come over illegal and not suffering persecution in their homeland and if so, do we just open all borders to anyone?

 

I don't have an issue anyone coming over here to work ....but not to receive benefits.

I’ve never really understood why they need to travel that very last bit across the channel and risk their lives.
Surely France is a democratic country that has to follow EU rules? Or am I missing something? Do we offer something more than France to these desperate people in need?

We have a duty and should help asylum seekers but from the bits I’m reading most are economic migrants with 90% being young men with a massive increase this year with 75% being from Albania.

What is a problem and should be sorted is our ability to process these people with some held basically in prisons or having to waiting years before knowing if they can stay and in that time they are not allowed to work for money.
