    41,000 migrants have crossed the channel now,to our country.
    What’s all your thoughts on this?
    And mods,don’t take this down,it’s an honest question about what some people would call a ‘quiet invasion’.

    Don’t know what you mean by calling me that. I’m not a racist,or anything. I’m just surprised at how many are willing to pay so much ,only,to cross a dangerous stretch of water,to get here. Arnt you?

    Very much so.
    But shock that desperation is driving so many people to under take such a journey, and probably give up their life savings to unscrupulous ‘boat owners’ to do so, doesn’t automatically mean I want to pack them off to Rwanda any more than I’d want to have them shot in the water before they touch the shore.



    (I’m going to regret getting involved in this thread, aren’t I??! I may just go and tackle my ironing pile in preference!)

    When you have virtually nothing, anything is preferable.

    Nearly 140,000 have got to Germany, and over 70,000 have got to Italy.

    This is a global challenge - not just UK.

    The problem isn't the people that are completing the journey to any country that they think will give them a better quality of life, it's the people that facilitate the journey (and I use the term 'people' in its loosest sense as technically, that is what they are).

    ....the part of all this I don't understand is the desperation of the people .... why are they desperate to leave France or any other of the countries they have past through that are not war torn....

    Yet as a country struggling with our own issues , empty food banks , crippled NHS , financial crisis and strictly come dancing we still find enough empathy to help .

    Yes. I don’t get this bit either. I mean,ok you get France,then unless you go up or down,you HAVE to cross the water.
    Why not just go up or down? It’s like they are being hearded here,like sheep,isn’t it?

    tbh not bothered. I’d swap them for the few percent we have forcing the majority to live in near poverty. Oh the shy racists can go too
