A couple of weeks I tried to insure myself for an old Jag. One quote was for £1300! Another was for £110. I guess it pays to shop around.
Hi I hope you don't mind me adding to this post as I don't frequent the chat forum very often. I just bought a new (well... 2004) car and had the free drive away insurance for a week. They get you on the phone at the dealers to get it organised and try and sell you insurance there and then and quoted me over £1000 which I politely declined! Anyway my own insurance company were much better for less than £500! Aviva were good though only called me once and when I said I had got it cheaper they did not pressure me to buy theirs. Great business for them though as would be easy to assume that their price is good and to make it easy just keep it insured with them after the 7 days. Cheers Ben
Try fully comp Dinky - they don't like 3rd party only - not like the old days. It's my impression that they actually want you to claim - so they can raise yours and everyone else premiums. Why do some people attract these ridiculous quotes? I got it under £1k for myself, ex and 18 year old son, both of who were learning and had zero driving experience, to drive a turbo diesel MK4 Golf. I pay just over £500 and it fully comps me (and it did include ex as well with one year driving experience) for any and ALL the vehicles I own (2 cars and a van) + driving customers UK and imported buses fully comp + fire and theft up to £30K worth of buses on top of my own.
Amazes me, coz when i was learning to drive i had a bug and was fully comp, learner, £312 year honest
It does sound like it. Its the drivng ALL the vehicles bit. When i was trying to insure my T25 caravelle i got quotes ranging from £290 to £2500.
Yes traders policy. Though I had to fight like ... to get them to realise that campers aren't whacking great aluminium things from the states, and to include LHD as well. If my windscreen breaks I have to pay for it, and probably wouldn't claim for damage - I'd just mend it myself. Pretty good value when the ex was on there as well. You have to argue with them for an hour every year, but I've been paying much the same for 4 years - I think maybe I was being ripped to start with. They say "you were happy to pay that last year" I say "No I wasn't happy - I may have paid it, but I was very unhappy" and so it goes....
try swinton i got my 2.0 Peugeot 306 Cabriolet insured for £280 fully comp when my previous company wanted £1100.
