Like this if he was down the beach on his boat or somewhere where he didnt have power , worth knowing for an emergency or quick job maybe?
Back in the dawn of time someone over here marketed a stick welder that worked off a car battery. Only difference was the electrode holder incorporated an induction coil that not only reduced the current but caused the stick itself to move when dabbed on the workpiece allegedly this enabled a first time user to produce a first class stitch weld....must have been quite unerving to use a vibrating stick. Much better chance with a straight forward connection!
