Can’t see any significant oil loss on the dipstick

Not particularly, he just mentioned bring it back after couple hundred miles to readjust the valves.

I know I thought would have been more specific

See what the builder has to say would be first thing. He won't be happy his engine is leaking.

Yes, I can see this now. Ties in nicely with getting my heater flaps open o_Om

What should I do with this pipe and filter?

Stock carbs? It should be pushed onto a spigot on top half of filter box, right hand side towards the rear. Can't imagine why it isn't unless it's broken.

You need to add a fitting on top of one of the air filters of a type that doesn't have a nut inside which could rattle loose.

So basically plumb it into the top of one of the air filters?

(I won’t do anything significant until I’ve talked to my engine man of course)

Yep. The tank breather should go the the other one.

Ok. So for the crankcase breather, I guess I don’t just plumb a pipe from the crank to the air filter as there would occasionally be oily vapour going into the carb.

Should there be some in line filter here?

Is there some type of black rectangular box that should sit where my vertical pipe is currently fitted? And does this collect/condense oil vapour that drips back into the crankcase, while the rest of the vapour goes back to the carb? May have seen these, but they seem to be associated with an oil filler. My oil filler is right at front of engine like most peoples.

Not sure how to rig this

Straight to the carb is fine, there shouldn't be much oil making it that far and the engine will happily burn what does.

Did this- the slightest pressure, very slight. Held piece of tissue over end and was no oil residue.

I wonder if oil in engine bay was from me running it in and it’s getting better. Have cleaned this up now and am going for another drive

Good stuff. I think your rings probably ok.
Look for the leak yourself or refer to builder. TBH it should be the builders problem particularly if he also built it up and installed it. In that case I'd give him the bus, ask him to call when he's finished and sit in the garden with a beer.
