Trouble is some specialise because they love them and some because they see it as easy pickings, I mean what a great start when your customers expect things to continually go wrong and be dubious at best even when working properly.

  2. Would anyone be able to put some pics up of their engine bay so I can see where this tube goes? I understand where it comes out of .... That place next to filler cap but where is it going in? I think the garage mentioned something about my carb setup - whether it was single or double - does that influence things?

  3. It needs to go into your air filter.

You might have a hole into the carb, or you'll need to make one.

Someone will explain better than me though!

  4. What exactly is this carb business about? (!)

  5. I can recommend Paul at Mid Norfolk Air cooled at Swaffham - he's 45 miles from me but is well worth the trip.

I think it'll be less than 30 from Norwich

Carburettor. Air filter on top of carb. Your style filter usually has a spur underneath like the one on the filler, your garage probably swivelled the filter round so you can't see it.

  7. Mine had a pancakje filter on it when I bought it, no spigot, so the breather tube WS stuck out the bottom of the tinware . venting to the road !

  8. So potentially same as mine? Is a pancake filter just one without a tube to connect to? Why do some vans have one then if it's important to reburn those fumes?

  9. People fit those pancake filters because they're shiney, so obviously make the van go faster and better ;)

Put a wanted ad up for a standard air filter box.

A standard filter box will have all the necessary connections,

  10. Also the guy I bought the van off knows his stuff - he owns the Coca Cola bus! He didn't seem into the speed thing...So surely he would have known this?!! Man.... I'll ask him

The pipe from the oil filler to the air filter
You can see this filter has a point for it to go on but yours may not

Just like mine is now ;) and all vehicles were before someone decided burning the fumes was better for the environment. So long as it vents outside the engine bay your heating air at least starts oil free.

It's nothing to do with speed.
Just because people have nice vans doesn't mean they know anything about them.

  15. Fair enough, pity the spray of oil didn't stop my van rusting out though:D

Edit, you also know what your doing ! Don't you ? !

  16. So those fumes are currently going back into my ? heating? As in intoxicating me?!?

    Pretty much.
Don't panic though. If your air filter has the connection it's a 2 minute job, if it doesn't it's a 5 minute job.

  18. Where does the fuel tank breatherpipe go?

    I think I could guess...

  20. A pancake filter is so called because it is flat and round that's all
