Noisy engine and teddies all over the garage

  1. no....you'd hardly notice it....but if the valve sizes and flow were imbalanced between one bank and the other you'd notice it just in terms of lumpiness

  2. If you think they're any good at what they do ask them to sort out the 'knackered' head or have the new one machined out with new valves. It's your only option. Engine will run lumpy otherwise and will be almost impossible to carburate. It'll shake itself to pieces after a while.
    :)

  3. You may wish to punch me in the face but I will be more than happy happy to purchase the big valve one........

    Excellent.....a bidding war. :)

    Gentlemen, to your conversation starters.

  8. Yes, but assuming that you're running a std cam, the power reduction won't be massive!!

  9. I beg to differ, there is a huge noticeable difference between 'stock' 1800 heads and the bigger valve ones. I recorded an 15hp difference with swapping heads alone. 35hp when jetted right and with the right exhaust.

But the problem with the different heads is significant and I'm annoyed that he didn't know that.
I'm starting to think he is good at building engines but an air cooled one is a rarity for him.

  11. well- now then - where to start!!

  12. Thats unacceptable in everyway

A mm is massive when its comes down to flow

I can just go on a diet for a while to make up for the 15 hp. It's the balance of the engine which I want correct. If I wanted a lot of horsepower I would have kept my bike.

  14. I had a bloke like that do mine - unfortunately his company name was XX Aircooled!! (name changed to protect the guilty!)

  15. Sounds about right

Ive built a fair few engines before but i havent touched an aircooled engine because they have many differences over a water cooled upright engine

  17. what a bummer bob , you have gone up and down on this one like a true gent , id be going bonkers right now. They need to take some responsibility for this . If they have a good reputation?? then i think they will want this sorted right , you know alot of people and it will cost them more in the long run. I wish you all the best ,your a true gent and its a real bummer it had to happen to you . Hope it works out ok in the end :(:hattip:

  18. You would gain an increase in torque though

  19. You carry on mate.
