Unless I'm not seeing correctly, it looks like its missing?

    Which could be the problem?

nevertheless Razzy might have cracked it, check the welds - you can see where they're broken on his one.

Yes, very tatty on the outside and the flanges onto the silencer are well dodgy but they're not holed inside and the pipes into the head seem pretty good.
It's fitted at the moment so I'll get Jan to rev it up while I'm underneath and see if I can pinpoint it a bit better.

I've been trying not to run it for long while I'm trying to sort this because I want to give it 20 mins around 2000rpm to harden the camshaft.
I don't want to do that until I'm sure the timing is correct.

On the plus side I bet you're quick at fitting T4 exhaust systems now.

15 mins in the dark tonight. :)

I'll try and pinpoint the leak tomorrow with Jan and then whip it off and get a file on it.

  11. You could sick a bit of plasticene in place of the copper gasket fit HX and remove and measure the squish on plasticene . Saves running motor

Great minds think alike. I've just asked my missus if we've got any play dough.

  13. A bit of tissue paper or a single ply of bog roll. Hold it up to suspected leak and see if it wafts about. Or a can of disco smoke.

  14. Use a thick strand of solder. It'll squash easy and hold its shape better than plastercine.
Just don't get it inside the engine!

  15. Nice idea... bit of an issue on an aircooled motor though
