I certainly do dude... there is a gap in the head on the way down to the exhaust port, so if your engine builder has just plugged it at the top, it'll be blowing out midway in the cooling fins!!
you'll be able to feel it...maybe even see it in the dark...with everything attached if he's left it unplugged that's pretty poor
The trick I read somewhere which helps locate these noises is to wave a rubber = heatproof tube around the engine with one end held near your ear. The sharp cracking noise of a leak is much easier to find among the general rattles and pings. On my T1 engine it shows me where the No2 exhaust flange will not sit flat on the engine. From this thread I now realise I should try the file trick on the offending flange as exhaust paste falls out after a while.
Yeah, you'll clearly see the hole from underneath with the exchanger off... you might need to shine a torch up there, but you can see it!!
Hope he is, I've just read all of this and want to know myself now what's wrong with it. I'd be outside checking now too. It does sound like that blanking hole from underneath.
Hey @Paul Weeding...what you get up to behind closed doors is entirely your business (edited for comedic effect)
Ok cheers for that, I'll have a look in the morning. I'm sure the builder wouldn't have forgotten to blank it off which leaves me back where I started. Ok the top hole is blanked but I can't see a hole underneath where the heat ex fits. I've looked all around the flange and can see the exhaust valve stem but no hole, blanked or otherwise. There are still some bits of tinware fitted so @davidoft do you happen to have a pic of the other side of the head so I have a better idea where to look. I'd rather not take all the tins off until I know where the hole is situated.
