Nicks daft questions part 2 - fixing front of the accelerator cable

Picture below shows layout of the bus - implication is that the cable goes into lever and thats that - hole is about 5mm and the cable end kink is about 3mm so no way would it stay located?

How do I fix it?

Doesn't the tension on the cable ( one adjusted) keep it in place?

 

Fitting a washer on the kinked bit, other side from where cable is crimped and then tension of cable should do it I would have thought!

 

Did someone drill two holes to bolt an extension to the lever?

 

I dont know it was like that when I brought it!

 

I’d make a simple fishplate with a smaller hole in the bottom to suit the throttle cable and a bolt through the top hole, or weld the hole and redrill.
