  1. Hi , tyres are a personal choice really , best you can afford id say , but bare in mind the mileage per year you may or may not do type of driving ie fully loaded empty most of the time back roads or motorways etc . The other stuff re thermostat etc have pit falls which ever you decide , having them is right but make sure they are fitted correctly and maintained or they can cause their own probs too ,also age of engine etc .It also depends alot on what time of year you are going to use it most or if you will store it for the winter too . Lots to read on here and other forums a vw resources. Enjoy the ride n if it is running fine ,dont jump in feet first to change something till you have checked the options and of course the costs . Def get the tyres done thou .

  2. Hi di hi from sunny Southend. I have a 2.0 litre and no thermostat fitted, arrived from the states without and they are not available over here! Hope to see you next year at the shows, Alive and Dubbin (jimmy's farm) is a good one and Latitude is a also a good festival, plenty of campervans there.

  5. hi Guys
Thanks for all your help on tyres. We've decided to go pair of Michelin Mi 185R14 C2 Agila on the front. £75 ea from Kwik-fit mobile. I've always like Michelins for wear and ride, and if we don't like them on the front they can go on the rear.
Replacing discs did not go to plan!! One piston n/s caliper seized - no wonder it was pulling right!. Waiting for new caliper. How easy are they to refurbish?
We'll probably lay her up over winter so think we'll not install thermastat before then - It looks 'pig' of a job!
Question time! Our Tigger is a 1974 Devon with louvre window behind the driver (RHD). Were these a Devon product or borrowed from Westfalia?
Hope we may meet up with some of you at our first show - ReetroDub Ipswich over 26-28 September.
Like the pic of peterelaine's bay at Orford Castle.

  6. Thanks Neptune Blue
Only had her (him?) a month and pleased so far - looks good and solid. Some issues with brakes pulling to right for fraction of second before straightening up. New discs/calipers to front, and back plates, adjusters to rear. A bit better, but not perfect, but we can live with it. We have conundrum now with interior. All the furniture has been over-painted white, but appears to be fairly original. I'm strippiing back to wood veneers and may seal and wax original , or do we re-veneer throughout. Any suggetions anyone?.
Further earlier posts we arranged for pair Michelin Agilis C2 185/80R14 from Kwikfit for the front axle. Fitted at home for just under £160 the pair. They handle and ride well and hopefully will stand the test of time and miles. Saving now for another pair for the rear axle. More posts as we proceed with 'taming' Tigger to our requirements!.

  7. It looks like a lovely bus, and I love the colour, I'm considering painting mine like that in the future... Regards the interior, if the veneer beneath the paint is good why not try and wax or varnish it for the original look, should be fine :)

  8. welcome to you both and tiggertoes and a very nice bus he is too

  9. :)hello:)
You have a lovely camper there! Keep asking questions- people are really helpful on here. Good luck with the interior resto

  11. Will do. There's a lot to learn. We went to Retrodub yesterday at Ipswich. Wanted to camp but kids coming home from school/work meant we could only visit for the day. What a fine array of different VW campers from split-screens to T5's. Everyone so friendly when we showed interested in their buses/awnings etc. Met up with 3 other 'mewbies' just acquired Bays/Devons in past 2 months, and like us were visiting to see what others had done.
    We'll keep up-dated

  12. :)

  13. Welcome from Cumbria :)

  14. Cumbria's one of the first places we intend to visit with Tigger next year!. Few more hills than here in Suffolk
