.........ok..............so I need peoples advice pretty please and thank you kindly.............. Do Norfolk peeps know someone nearby in terms of Norwich to look at panels, repair panels etc....Ollie has a few areas that need some TLC and some filler areas which have cracked......I have loked up the very knowledgeable Zeb's but I think it may be a bit to far out Coach painting ..............anyone tried it ( I am sure some have) what were the results...........Tekaloid paint is what I am thinking .........and tis is probally somewhere else in these thread however it is taking me a while and keep getting distracted by intresting subjects such as Gnomes............ Door Cards -----------best place for purchase ............advice tips etc on covering yourself............. Also without breaching some sort of policy any advice on best place for parts, I have not had much luck so far .............tried a few big names, first one was a bit of a massive fail due to the quality of the parts and the amount of fuss made when I tried to return it...........but I am also on a tight budget ...........Ollie requires, new parts for his 72 poptop............door cards..........scat gear stick..........smaller steering wheel ( one of those wooden ones) .....new lock for his tail gate................type two sunvisors ( I am sorry but 50 odd quid ffftttttt, and bits to fasten them on) and a under dashboard board shelf thingy ..............curtain rails ................ Hope me and the family bump into some of you people at some point ...............I promise not to ask to many questions .................hmmm rethink , I probally will , I am really keen to learn , this bus has been a long time coming. Thanks everyone have really enjoyed my time on here for the last couple of week Row
I've always heard good reports about Coolair for parts, they also give TLB Members a discount.. http://www.coolairvw.co.uk/
A synthetic enamel such as Tekaloid works very well though it has its drawbacks...slow curing as against drying by evaporation, does not like over painting with say acylic or cellulose unless you use a barrier coat first and needs brushing out at the end of each stroke or else its liable to sag. Otherwise its easy to use by brush , roller or pad and gives a good deep finish. Can even be hot sprayed though I've never done it. Purists don't like it but I do
At the moment I am debating on another thread ifit is a late bay ......prototype bay ......or cross over ..........my husband upset someone ony saying he wanted to matt black it
There are a few repairers and resto people in and around Norwich. How extensive is the work you are looking to have done?
I take my camper to Woolley's VW specialist at Hingham as its not too far away. Mines in soon for an MOT and a few jobs like oil leak, air leak etc. In the past he has done a great job on the bus.
You wont go wrong with zeds bus garage I can do coach painting a fair chunk cheaper than a full respray by a bodyshop As good as a finish as i can achieve it will not be show bus standard The second thing is im in north yorkshire so its a long trip from you If the bus is on the road go and see steve zed and get his opinion He wont charge you for his opinion and you will get an honest one If you want a brew or to read a magazine whilst hes looking then take your own cup and magazine
Stick some pics of your bus up dude pics help those with a dub eye to give a opinion rather than a guess
yeah a tad to far ..............when I get the gears tighthen will give Zed a bell will up load some pictures in just a bit.
Ready .............steady ..........photo's glore ! Must of the work is split filler although the front end and a back panel and the bottoom of the drivers door on the open corner need some anti rust tlc
My apologies, I have just found other threads that answer just about everything above . Have emailed Zed through his work email ( know how much it sucks to be perstered about work if you have time off) ................now to start paying into a credit union to save to pay for the work .......that which we can not do ourselves .......but first to.......pay off the van lol....off out now to tighten the doggogey wootists so there is not so much play in the gears ....
So pictures of underside to uploaded later , so under the bus went everyone to take a look at why the gears had so much play thinking may be a bush or the nuts need a bit of righty tighty........no steering box oil all but dried up and needs a new nylon tube washer, so no going out for a maiden run today for us , lets hope GSF have the part in ...............
