  1. Pop up ,you might see the advantages of having a pop top

  2. If you're only up in Hinckley I would strongly recommend getting yourself down to Techenders for a couple of hours this weekend and talk to a few people, I can guarantee you will be made most welcome(though not by me as I shall be away camping and will once again miss another Techenders!).
I'm sure you'll get tons of good advice and can look at different buses to see which layout would suit your needs best, it's better to get it right now than have to modify a vehicle to suit.
You will find one thing bus owners love doing is talking about their buses!:)

  4. That looks nice.

  5. I would worry that a pop top is another thing to go wrong, and expensive to repair. The squatter thing doesn't sound much fun either (although I'm sure I've camped with worse!).

I'll re-open my mind though and see what I come across...

  6. Squatters - just a joke. My roof is a bit on the big side!

  7. with a 10k budget you should find a decent pop top with no leaks or problems, i bought my bus for 8k 3 years ago. the best pop top in my opinion is the Dormobile roof. second would be Viking/Super Viking then Devon Double top, Moonraker, then Westfalia roof (late bay) bigger bed up top than earlier ones. then Danbury. just my personal order of prefference. lol

    Welcome from cheshire,
Tin tops look so much nicer though

  9. For a family camper I'd say go for a poptop every time. Tintops look nicer I agree but bear in mind these aren't big vehicles and not being to stand up while making a cuppa or getting dressed soon becomes a pain. Plus many poptops have a bed in them so nobody gets relegated to the awning.

if i was getting a poptop again i'd go summat like a small devon or dormobile, the van looks nicer if you can see the front profile of the roof, where as a late westy is great space wise the bluddy gert boat on the roof looks gash.

yeah good call that is a great van if he still has it.

  12. I had heard though that spiders tend to like to make a home in there! I'm not arachnophobic or anything, but I don't think the boy would like sharing his bed with them!

Never a problem! We've had our westy for five years now and never had an issue with spiders in the roof
