New, stitched up, and starting again

  1. Seems to be in fairly good condition.
Unfortunately I don't know an awful lot about it - part of my winter project is to find out some history.

I bought it via ebay from a garage (of sorts) near Heathrow. Apparently an auto museum had bought it and were getting it all done up, lots of rust, newspaper and filler. They ran out of money to continue the project so it was sold. It was in primer when I bought it and most of the early work seems to have been done well.
Unfortunately when it came to the interior/electrics/finishing touches, he failed miserably, even though I paid enough so a decent job.

But, the silver lining, at least if I do it/get bits done locally I'll learn more and know it's solid. :)

@davidoft it's quite distinguishable, it's got a turtle airbrushed on the back!
Only moved to Waterlooville area in May, I was near Alton before that.

  2. Haha very true! :)

  3. Welcome along! And good luck with it. Don't know if you're aware, but you can fill in a form with the DVLA and they'll send you a list of previous owners (it only cost £5 when I did it 3 yrs ago).

  4. Another twin slider bus! Twin sliders are always the superior van. :D Welcome.

Teenage mutant ninja turtle? COOOOLLL :) I haven't seen that!!

  6. Couldn't agree more!
Although, I saw a few at Brighton Breeze but they all had the door sealed up. Still haven't seen another fully functional one.

If you feel an urge to make tea for someone I will be at my workshop today :)

  10. I'm just going out to give Barnabay a good clean so I can put my nice new cover on.
Will see how long that takes and might give you a shout :)

  11. Hello and welcome, I'm in Southampton so not far away, although I am not at all knowledgable as only just got The Minx a couple of months ago. Good luck with the restoration!

  12. Should've come and looked at mine - I was at Brighton, and I have 2 fully functional doors (although one is a bit awkward). It's really handy being able to get out of the bus either side.

  13. Ah I don't remember seeing yours. It it great having two doors. Only awkward bit is interiors. What have you done with yours?

  14. I did this:

Not finished yet, I also have a Westfalia table to go in and a bit of tidying up to do. Can't at the moment though, as the van is acting as a mobile shed while our house is for sale!

  15. Nice, really like the slide out bit. The original one I had was a little like that - but nowhere near as polished!

  16. Greetings from Cumbria! Good luck with the next round of improvements!

  17. Welcome and sorry to hear that you're having a bad time with it.

I went to view this bus when it was up for sale and was close to buying it. But decided against a twin slider at the last minute. Looked a good solid bus when we viewed it and being able to choose your own colour appealed to us too.

Hopefully you get it sorted soon.

  19. Fingers crossed it's mostly just interior bits that need doing then! :)
