New, stitched up, and starting again

  1. Hello, I'm new here and pretty new to campers.
I bought my '76 (Barnabay) a couple of years ago, first ever camper van, second vehicle I've ever driven!

Not knowing very much at all, the whole resto was meant to be done by the garage I bought it from - with me making the decisions on paint colours and learning as I went along. Sadly it was more cowboys play campers than experienced dub lovers :(

So I've stripped out the interior and floor etc and am starting again. I'm still rubbing down the surface rust at the moment so I'm sure they'll be loads of questions to come.

I'm really keen to do what I can myself and learn as much as possible. So far I'm pretty good at holding a torch and making tea - if anyone local needs and extra pair of hands in exchange for teaching me the basics :)

I'm on hayling and am happy to drink tea and have a torch holder in return for watching me cut my hands on sharp bits of old vw's and swearing :)

  8. @davidoft haha that sounds about right. I did manage to put a new exhaust on with the help of my dad and OH. Lots of swearing and bleeding knuckles involved though!

Here are a couple of pics!
    Twin sliding doors :)
I've stripped out the little side units and carpet/polystyrene. Just working on sanding/scraping the little rusty patches. Have been putting red oxide primer on the bits I've done. Will be going over it all with white paint at some point.
