Well Idont know whats been going off around here fora bit, but here is Billy before the metal work and after with custom removable valance. Where the chuff as all my karma gone!!
Hi Mark what the chuff been happening here?? Billy has been in resto since May. But I have run out money at the mo. How are things with you mate?
Nice work fella, Really like the rear valence, is it your own mod?? I'm really near to completing my metal too, hopefully by end of tomorrow. Cant wait!!! Good luck with the rest of it, keep the pics coming in
well the forum crashed about a month ago, we lost everything..horts has been rebuilding the whole lot ground up. There is a way of finding old posts via google cached searches (whatever that means)!! As for us, we are all fine cheers, Gusbus has just started to be painted at last but Major (we have a westy as well now) is running brilliantly (http://thelatebay.com/index.php?topic=301.0). A good few of us will be at RTTH at Alfreton over the weekend, if you can make it..be good to see you!! Billy looks good though, I do know what you mean about costs, they soon add up dont they!
Valance was my idea but not my work. Mark Gus is looking very good mate. Sorry I cannot come this weekend, we fly to protugal this weekend. But Iwill keep posting when I come back. Cheers for the Karma, lost all mine in the big crash. And my previous resto thread. :- Nice to be back guys.
Well off to absolute VW tomorrow to discuss stage 2. Of project Billy Bus, which is sand blasting the under side, sealing the gaps that the cross members create, treating the bear metal and etch primer and then paint. And I have the engine to prep over the winter. In too far now to back out!
Well things have moved on a little more, if your interested check out "absolute VW Simon Kerr". Or see below.
I must admit the work they have done is fantastic, but the budget is already getting a battering. :-[
Some photos of the next part of the resto. And the front beam stripped for powder coat. I will do the rear over the next couple of days.
Ay Up Mark, yes mate I have not given up yet, still living the dream of owning a custom Bay. but the word money pit comes to mind...lol
Sorry Splitty gone. Underneath now ready for clear coat protection. So the underneath as had etch primer and sealer, stone chip, paint, clear coat wax or whatever is the best product we can find, and all cavities pumped full of anti rust chemicals.
