Thread title updated - skip the crap and head to post 127 - new engine/engine rebuild by @Paul Weeding LVH Engines So started fine and then driving for 1 hr 30 min. Switched off and then 10 min later it failed to start a bit like a flat battery. Turned over but really slowly. Managed to get it started by jumping it from another car. What can I check. The battery light on the dash did not glow at all. It's working as it comes on with the ignition. Alternator is working as leisure battery is nicely charged. I'll also add that for the past week it's been sitting in the garage and it started fine today so I think it's not charging and driving simply drained the battery but why no battery light? Tomorrow will put test meter on the battery.
How is the leisure battery charging? If you have a split charge relay, is it still alive? It could be stuck charging the leisure battery and ignoring the starter battery...
I guess that depends on your setup...I'd get a meter on the starter battery. As @tommygoldy said, check the battery terminals. I've had issues with these in the past too.
I had exactly the same issue. I pick the bus up a couple of weeks ago and it started perfectly, got it home and went to start it a couple of days later and it was dead, no dash lights. Managed to jump start it but then went dead again. I have bought a new battery but it still kind of struggles to kick over. I am in the process of checking all the earthing points and coil etc.
i would guess at earths not good somewhere, batteries and gearbox as they can cause problem starting....
Measure both batteries terminal voltage with the engine off and with it running. This should give you an idea of what's going on.
